Nestle is taking necessary steps to improve the farm animals
Nestle is about to implement strict instructions on its 7,300 suppliers to ensure the welfare of the farm animals in its supply chain. Nestle S.A. which is the Glendale-based division of Swiss food giant said that it had a partnership with NGO World Animal Protection in London. Under this agreement the suppliers need to improve and standardize the space for rearing the pigs, cows and other animals.
The manager of responsible sourcing, Benjamin Ware said that they knew the their customers are concerned about the welfare of the animals. And as a company they are trying to ensure that commitment to the possibly highest level. The company said that this decision would affect thousands of farms around the world. Because most of their 7,300 suppliers buy the meat, poultry from others.
In the last February there was a recall of 8.7 million pounds of contaminated beef. Nestle USA recalled two versions of its Hot Pockets in 139 locations after that incident.
