Texas added 29,860 private-sector jobs during July, according to a report Wednesday from ADP, the payroll processing and benefits administration company.
The report, which measures the changes each month in nonfarm private employment on a seasonally adjusted basis, is an early look at how the statewide economy is doing in advance of the official Texas Workforce Commission's tally later this month.
The biggest statewide job gains were in trade, transportation and utilities which added 8,470 positions in July, according to the report which is produced in collaboration with Moody's Analytics. Professional and business services added 6,400 new jobs.
Oil and gas exploration and production and construction created 3,300 new positions in July while manufacturing added 2,330 jobs, according to the report.
