Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph was shot in the leg at a nightclub following Friday's preseason game against the Raiders, the team announced.

'Josesph was an innocent bystander to the shooting that took place at the 400 SoundBar in downtown Minneapolis,' the Vikings said in a statement. 'Linval suffered a minor injury during the shooting when a stray bullet struck his calf. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injury and released. He is expected to return to his coaches and teammates this week.

'The entire Vikings organization is extremely thankful that Linval was not seriously hurt, and our thoughts are with all of the victims of this shooting. The team will defer any further comment to the Minneapolis Police Department during its ongoing investigation.'

According to StarTribune.com, police are looking for a gunman who shot nine people in the incident. Club owner Johann Sfaellos said it was a typical night until a man opened fire.

'Suddenly, a person just pop, pop, pop,' Sfaellos said of the shooter. 'The whole thing was surreal. It was out of the blue. It was a normal night, nice party, nice crowd. And then some guy started shooting. No arguments, no nothing.'

Joseph played nine snaps in the preseason opener and is the Vikings' starting nose tackle. He signed a five-year, $31.25 million deal in March after spending the first four years of his career with the Giants.
