Amazon Fire TV Stick Now Shipping
Good news for those who ordered an Amazon Fire TV Stick. The tiny streaming dongle is headed your way.
Amazon on Wednesday started shipping the Fire TV Stick to those who pre-ordered it, the online retail giant announced.
Unveiled late last month, the Fire TV Stick plugs into the HDMI port on your TV, and offers access to movies, TV shows, music, photos, apps, and games. That includes popular video and music services like Netflix, Prime Instant Video, Hulu Plus, WatchESPN, NBA Game Time, Twitch, Showtime Anytime, Prime Music, Spotify, Pandora, Vevo, Plex, A&E, PBS, PBS KIDS, Watch Disney Channel, and YouTube.
You can also rent or purchase 200,000 movies and TV episodes, and wirelessly mirror your phone or tablet display to your TV from certain devices.
If you pre-ordered the $39 dongle, you're not alone. Amazon said the Fire TV stick is its fastest-selling device ever.
'We built a ton of these, but customer demand still outpaced our supply,' Dave Limp, senior vice president of Amazon devices, said in a statement. 'We're excited by the overwhelming customer response and the team is working hard to build more as quickly as possible.'
Considering Amazon initially offered it to Prime members for just $19, it's no wonder the device sold so quick. That deal is no longer available, but at $39, it's still pretty cheap.
The Fire TV Stick comes with a remote control for simple and easy navigation. You can also use the free Fire TV Remote app for Fire phone, Android phones to search using your voice. The app should be arriving soon for iPhone as well.
