Geno Smith replaces Michael Vick as Jets' meltdown continues

Posted by Michael David Smith on November 24, 2014, 9:19 PM EST

The Jets have made another quarterback change. Not that it makes any difference.

Trailing 31-3 against the Bills tonight at Ford Field, the Jets have pulled Michael Vick and replaced him with Geno Smith. It was Smith who opened the season as a starter until he was benched during a terrible performance, also against the Bills.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Vick was pulled because he was injured or just pulled because he was ineffective. Regardless, it's not like it's going to make a difference. Tonight's loss will drop the Jets to 2-9 and mathematically eliminate them from playoff contention. Whether they play out the string with Smith or Vick won't much matter.

The reality is the Jets will be looking for a new quarterback next offseason, as neither Smith nor Vick has shown himself capable of getting the job done. Whether it's Smith or Vick, the result is the same: The Jets stink.
