The saga of Middle-earth is coming to an end.
The official trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,' debuted online Thursday, and features plenty of familiar faces from the 'Lord of the Rings' franchise.
The third and final film in the 'Hobbit' trilogy sees forces of good and evil collide in an intense conflict that sees many characters pitted against each other.
Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) is caught up in an epic adventure involving Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) and the Company of Dwarves. And just as in the previous film, the dragon Smaug (performed using motion capture by Benedict Cumberbatch) returns to bring more fiery destruction.
Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee and Hugo Weaving reprise their roles from the 'LOTR' films, and the movie also stars Luke Evans, Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace.
Peter Jackson's final fantasy film based on novels of J.R.R. Tolkien hits theaters Dec. 17.
