If Jennifer Lawrence seemed moved during the 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part I' press conference Saturday afternoon, the Academy Award winner wasn't acting.
The 24-year-old starlet became emotional talking about staying grounded despite her status as an international movie star, saying that the secret to her success is that 'I surround myself with 'no' people.
'I have an amazing group of friends who are not in the business, who I trust,' she told the packed assemblage of reporters in a midtown hotel ball room decked out to look futuristic.
'Because something strange does happen, and it's a very tiny thing that makes a big difference - the way people look at you. Because I don't feel any different. The way people look at you feels alienated and odd. So I surround myself with people who don't fake laugh at my jokes.'
Cue the fake laughs from costars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.
As Lawrence seemed uncomfortable being the focal point of most of the questions as the ensemble cast watched, castmate Natalie Dormer (of 'Game of Thrones' fame) swooped to the rescue to answer a question about how Lawrence compared herself to Katniss Everdeen, the beloved revolutionary leader she plays in the franchise.
'I stood next to Jennifer Lawrence for nine months and stood by her as (my character) Cressida looking at her lead a rebellion,' Dormer said. 'Katniss doesn't have any ego and neither does Jennifer. The reason why she's so compelling to an audience is because she's true to herself and doesn't suffer the bulls--- or superficial elements. .... That's why people look up to her. She's a great role model. So is Katniss. She can't comment on that herself, because by the nature of her personality, she's incapable.'
Lawrence seemed as surprised as the rest of the audience by Dormer's speech.
Of course JLaw being JLaw, the mood didn't stay serious.
When asked about the best scene in 'Mockingjay' to film, Lawrence responded, 'We got to do a scene in a meadow, that was really beautiful. I got a good selfie of me peeing in it.'
Lawrence also revealed the secret of how she managed to nail such convincing crying scenes in the third installment of the popular dystopian franchise that opens next Friday.
'I just hold my eyes open really wide for a long time,' Lawrence deadpanned.
