New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has been fined $100,000 for his profanity-laced reaction to Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell's leap over the top of the line of scrimmage when the Jets were taking a knee to run out the clock Sunday, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Ryan is considered a third time offender by the league.

He was previously fined $50,000 by the team for flipping his middle finer at Miami Dolphins fans while attending an MMA event in 2010.

Ryan was fined $75,000 by the league for yelling an obscenity at a New England Patriots fan during a game in 2011.

'I thought that was kind of bush league,' Ryan said Monday of Mitchell's leap. 'I can understand it in a short-yardage situation; you want to praise the guy for timing it right and all that stuff, there' s no question. But, in that part of the game, when we're just kneeling on it, I was surprised by it to say the least and disappointed.'
