Longmire Might Get a Season 4 Thanks to Netflix
Nearly two months after A&E abruptly canceled , the Western drama might live again on Netflix.
According to Deadline, the streaming service is in negotiations for a fourth season of the series with Longmire's production company Warner Horizon Television. After the cancellation, Warner Horizon began shopping the series around, with Netflix as one of its primary targets since it already has the rights to the previous seasons.
After Longmire's cancellation, what's next for A&E?
Longmire was A&E's most-watched original scripted series of all time, with its third season averaging 5.6 million viewers. However, the drama's audience skews older - the median viewer age was 61 - making it a tougher sell for advertisers.
When the drama was shockingly canceled, fans immediately began rallying to bring it back. The desire for a Season 4 was particularly strong because the Season 3 finale ended on a major cliff-hanger that left viewers wondering who fell victim to a mysterious gunshot.
