Oklahoma's Samaje Perine breaks FBS rushing record with 427 yards
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine set the FBS record for yards rushing in a game Saturday against Kansas.
With 12:16 to play in the game, Perine set the mark with a 42-yard run on his 34th carry, giving him 427 yards for the day.
The freshman moved ahead of Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon, who set the record of 408 yards the previous week against Nebraska.
Everything set up perfectly for Perine's record day. The Sooners were without top receiving threats Sterling Shepard and Blake Bell, and the game was played in a driving rainstorm.
