Taylor Swift Set To Receive Top AMA Award
Taylor Swift will be given the first-ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence at the 2014 American Music Awards this weekend.
The award, created in honour of the late Dick Clark who founded the AMAs, will be given to artists each year who've achieved 'a groundbreaking feat or created a landmark work'.
According to Dick Clark Productions, Taylor was chosen as the winner after breaking records with the release of her latest album, 1989, as she became the first artist to achieve first-week sales of more than a million copies for three albums in a row.

In a statement, Clark's widow, Kari Clark, explains how the country-pop starlet was the ideal first-winner of the award.
'The first time Dick saw Taylor perform, he knew she was something special,' she said.
'He would be thrilled to know she is the first artist to receive the Dick Clark Award for Excellence.'
Swifty is already confirmed to be performing her new single, Blank Space, at the ceremony this weekend.
Ella Henderson, Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande are also among the line-up to perform at the 42nd AMAs in LA this Sunday (23 November).
