Boeing income up on commercial aircraft demand

Boeing said Wednesday its third quarter net income rose by 12% to $1.16 billion as commercial airplane sales growth helped offset a decline in the military aircraft business.

Its pro-forma earnings per share of $1.80, which exclude some charges, beat analysts' average estimate of $1.55.

Total revenue rose to $22.1 billion from $20 billion a year ago.
