Freese exits Game 3 with right calf tightness
Cards third baseman singled to lead off fifth, advanced to second, then was lifted
LOS ANGELES -- Cardinals third baseman David Freese was removed for a pinch-runner in the fifth inning of Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Monday.
With the Cardinals trailing the Dodgers, 2-0, Freese singled to lead off the inning, and after he advanced to second on Matt Adams' single to right, he was removed for Daniel Descalso.
Descalso immediately committed a baserunning blunder by getting doubled off second on Jon Jay's fly ball to left.
The Cards announced that Freese was removed due to right calf tightness.
