PS4 Launches In More Territories, Now Out In 48 Countries
The PlayStation 4 originally launched in North America on November 15 but since then, it has landed on store shelves in many other regions.
Today, Sony's new console launched in 16 new markets: Czech Republic, Greece, Slovakia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, South Africa, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela. That brings the overall total to 48. Lotsa gamers have access now!
The system has yet to release in other significant territories, including Japan. Sony recently revealed that the PS4 had enjoyed the biggest console launch in the brand's history; it also sold the most units in the US in November. Currently, the Xbox One is only available in 13 countries around the world, although that represented the initial launch. There have been rumors that the Xbox One might be delayed in certain territories but Microsoft hasn't officially announced anything.
As for the PS4, Sony is struggling to keep everyone supplied with units to sell. If you don't have one yet, you might get lucky if you visit your local Wal-Mart this weekend.
