The New York Yankees shared the spotlight with Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston in an exhibition game against the Florida State baseball team in Tampa, Fla..
Fans in garnett and gold filled the stadium and Jimbo Fisher even threw out the first pitch at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Unfortunately for those FSU fans in attendance, Winston grounded out to second and struck out looking as the the Seminoles fell 8-3.
Winston entered the game in the 5th inning, and according to Seminoles coach Mike Martin there was a chance the two-sport star would pitch in the 8th. After the game, Martin said Winston did not pitch because of a 'tender elbow.'
Most of the Yankees regulars did not play in the spring training contest, though Winston did get a chance to meet Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira and Jorge Podsada before the game.
