The University of Houston has reached an agreement on a five-year contract with Rockets assistant Kelvin Sampson to become the school's men's basketball coach.
A person with knowledge of the situation said that Sampson would be returning to a college coaching job.
Sampson, an assistant with the Rockets, has previously been a head coach at Washington State, Oklahoma and Indiana.
Sampson would replace James Dickey, who resigned for personal reasons.
