When it comes to overall performance, Virgin America remains number one, according to an annual airline quality report released Monday.


According to the annual survey, which evaluates the 15 biggest carriers in the U.S. according to several performance markers including the percentage of on-time flights and mishandled bags, eight carriers boosted their performance, six airlines took a dip and one is a newcomer to the rankings.


The airline industry also reached an overall performance peak last year, hitting its highest point in the 24-year history of an annual quality report.
