Apple outs entry

THE APPLE STORE is down across the globe, which likely is a sign that the firm is about to unveil a new product.

At the Apple Store you'll be greeted with the message, 'We'll be back. We'll be busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.' According to istheapplestoredown.com, the fruit-themed firm has shuttered its online shop worldwide.

This is typically a sign that Apple has some new devices up its sleeve. However, it's unclear exactly what the firm plans to release, with the next generation iPhone tipped to launch in September and no word about when we're likely to see new iPads.

If speculation is to be believed, Apple likely is preparing to launch new iMac PCs, with Macgeneration reporting last Tuesday that the firm was planning an overhaul of its iMac line this week.

According to the rumours, Apple's new iMacs - if they in fact exist - will see an upgrade in the processor department, with Apple set to kit them out with Intel's recently launched chips, including the 3.3GHz Core i5-4590, the 3.4GHz Core i5-4690, and 3.6GHz Core i7-4790 for the 27in model, as well as the 3.0GHz Core i5-4590S and 3.2GHz Core i5-4790S for the 21.5-inch model.

It's also thought that, much like with the recently announced Macbook Air laptops, Apple will reduce the price of its desktop PCs.

However, the new iMacs are not expected to arrive running the firm's new Mac OS X Yosemite operating system, as this is still in the beta testing stage.

Apple has yet to comment further on its online store being down, but it's likely that all will be revealed soon. µ
