No More Snow: Is The 'Huntsman' Sequel Moving Forward Without Kristen ...

Snow White's 'Twilight' days may be over.

Universal Pictures is pushing forward with a sequel to 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' the gritty fairy tale adaptation that saw Kristen Stewart playing the legendary princess, with 'Thor' star Chris Hemsworth as her Huntsman. But according to one source, only one of those two will be involved in the sequel.

'Kristen Stewart is not expected to return for 'SWATH 2,'' reports The Wrap's Jeff Sneider, 'which is expected to emphasize Chris Hemsworth's role as the titular Huntsman.'

That's a big blow for fans who flocked to the first film specifically because of Stewart's involvement. But perhaps there's something to be said for following the Huntsman on his own adventures without being tied to the Snow story.

One encouraging sign for the sequel is its new director: Frank Darabont, the visionary filmmaker responsible for 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'The Green Mile.' He's also the man who originally adapted 'The Walking Dead' for AMC, before his unceremonious departure from the series at the start of season two. His unique visual style and eye for finding light through dark themes could work wonders with the tale of the Huntsman.

What do you make of Stewart's possible 'Snow White' departure?
