Jack Elway, the 24-year-old son of Denver Broncos general manager and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, was arrested following an alleged domestic-violence incident.
The Denver Post reported that John Albert Elway III was booked into the Denver jail on charges of assault and disturbing the peace, then was released Saturday on $550 bail, according to jail records. A protection order was issued for the alleged victim.
He was bonded out by his father. His next scheduled court appearance is June 5.
The alleged victim, a woman, contacted the Auraria Campus Police Department, according to the newspaper.
'This is a personal family matter and the Broncos will not have any additional comment on it,' Broncos executive director of media relations Patrick Smyth said in a statement.
Jack Elway was a standout quarterback at Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colo., before going to Arizona State. As a redshirt freshman quarterback in spring 2009, he elected to leave the Sun Devils' football program.
The younger Elway lives in Newport Beach, Calif., according to his Facebook page.
