WASHINGTON (AP) - Ryan Zimmerman has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list.
Zimmerman was in the lineup Tuesday to make his left field debut for the Washington Nationals against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Zimmerman missed 44 games with a broken right thumb, and the Nationals used the absence to convert the career third baseman into an outfielder. He played left field in three of four rehab games with Single-A Potomac.
Zimmerman has had throwing issues for several seasons because of shoulder problems, and Anthony Rendon has taken over at third base. There's currently a vacancy in left field while Bryce Harper recovers from a thumb injury.
Before his injury, Zimmerman was hitting .364 with two home runs and six RBIs in 10 games.
