Rubby Shines and Sox Eek Out a Victory Against the Twins

The Sox were coming off losing 2 close games against the Indians and held the chance of breaking that streak on rookie pitcher Rubby De La Rosa. De La Rosa did his job and then some and was able to get the win even with only one run of support from the Sox bats.

De La Rosa probably struggled the most in his first inning when he walked two Twins, but he was able to get out of the inning without any damage by getting an inning ending double play. The Twins were able to get the only hit against him in the 3rd when Santana got a single, however they were not able to get an RBI against Rubby. The Sox were able to get their one and only run in the 5th inning when Nava was on 3rd and AJ Pierzynski hit an RBI sac fly to get him to the plate. Sox 1-0. De La Rosa pitched 7 strong innings and his pitching line was 106 pitches, 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB and 3 Ks.

Andrew Miller came out and got the first out of the 8th inning before Farrell went with the righty Burke Badenhop. Badenhop gave up 2 hits and ended up having the bases loaded with 2 outs, but luckily the Twins were unable to score. Badenhop struck out Dozier to end the inning and have the Sox still clinging to a 1-0 lead. Koji Uehara came out for the 9th and continued to just dominate whatever team he is facing. Koji had a 1-2-3 inning and notched down the win and his 15th save of the season.

Red Sox 1 Twins 0 BOXSCORE

WP: De La Rosa (2-2) LP: Correia (3-8) SV: Uehara (15)
