Stock futures trade in narrow range
U.S. stock futures were trading in a narrow range and Asian stock markets struggled for direction on Tuesday.
Ahead of the opening bell (as of around 4:30 a.m. ET):
Dow: -0.07%, S&P 500: -0.10%, Nasdaq: +0.03%.
Japan's Nikkei 225 index added 0.05% to 15, 376. 24.
European shares also traded with little direction. Britain's FTSE 100 index was flat.
On Monday, the S&P 500 fell 0.1% to 1,962.61 while the Dow also dropped 0.1% to 16,937.26. The Nasdaq was practically unchanged at 4,368.68.
In energy trading, the price of U.S. benchmark crude for August delivery fell 55 cents to $105.62 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract dropped 66 cents to $106.17 on Monday.
Islamic militants in Iraq have been steadily expanding their grip on the country's north, where they control a broad swath of territory. But the bulk of the country's oil production and export operations are in the south.
