Chris Kaman signs with Trail Blazers
Another former Los Angeles Lakers is now off the market as Chris Kaman on late Thursday night agreed to a tw0-year, $9.8 million deal with the Portland Trail Blazers according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.
In the second year of the contract only $1 million of the $5 million is guaranteed. The deal will become official once the NBA Moratorium Period ends July 10.
Kaman took to Twitter on late Thursday night to express his excitement about joining Portland.
I am very excited to get the offer from the Blazers and can't wait to get this season started! #RipCity #Blazers

He spent just one season with the Lakers where he averaged 10.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 18.9 minutes in 39 games played. The 11-year veteran had expected to receive significant playing time with Los Angeles playing alongside Pau Gasol, but then-head coach Mike D'Antoni strayed away from pairing the two on the court.
He seemingly appeared to lose favor with D'Antoni as the season progressed that included being benched for a few stretches of the year and also dealt with several injuries that limited his playing time. Despite playing in arguably his most difficult season in the NBA, the 32-year-old did experience a few high points such as scoring a season-high 28 points (one shy of his career-high) on a career-best 13 made field goals with 17 rebounds, and six assists against the Phoenix Suns on March 30.
When Gasol was out of the lineup for five games due to vertigo, he stepped in his place and was quite productive averaged 13.6 points and 7.4 rebounds in 22.2 minutes.
Now as a member of the Trail Blazers, he will provide the team with much-needed depth and scoring in the frontcourt that already features LaMarcus Aldridge and Robin Lopez. Kaman will likely compete for the starting job at center with Lopez, but may ultimately come off the bench.
