Royals acquire Kratz, Hendriks from Blue Jays for Valencia
Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Kansas City Royals have acquired catcher Erik Kratz and pitcher Liam Hendriks from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for infielder Danny Valencia.
Valencia hit .282 with two homers and 11 RBI in 36 games for the Royals this season.
Kratz has split time between Toronto and Triple-A Buffalo this season. In 34 games for the Jays this year, he hit .198 with three homers and 10 RBI. He was traded to Toronto this offseason from the Phillies' organization, where he spent three years.
Hendriks made 16 starts for Buffalo this season, going 8-1 with a 2.33 ERA. The young righty went 1-0 with a 6.08 ERA in three starts for Toronto this year.
The Royals will recall infielder Christian Colon from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday. Catcher Brett Hayes was designated for assignment.
