Incident: The pair react to the ugly collision in Natal a week ago

Giorgio Chiellini has forgiven Luis Suarez for his bite, insisting 'it's all forgotten'.

The pair were involved in an ugly confrontation during Italy and Uruguay's World Cup match in Natal, which saw Suarez slapped with a four-month global ban.

In an official statement to FIFA, the Liverpool striker claimed he slipped and fell on the defender and did NOT bite him, despite replays suggesting otherwise.

But today Suarez completed his U-turn and apologised to Chiellini and the 'entire football family'.

And the Juventus and Italy defender has accepted the sorrow, responding to the Uruguayan's post on Twitter.

He said: 'It's all forgotten. I hope FIFA will reduce your suspension.'

During his confession, Suarez admitted the opportunity to regain his calm allowed him to reflect on the incident and tell the truth.

The striker posted: 'I deeply regret what occurred. I apologize to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family. I vow to the public that there will never again be another incident like this.'

His apology comes mere hours after Barcelona admitted they wanted to sign the Anfield star but wanted a committal from him that there would be no future shenangians.

Suarez' confession also follows an attack on FIFA from the Uruguayan President Jose Mujica, who insisted the ban was 'fascist'.

Uruguay were set to appeal the suspension but that now appears unlikely following the Liverpool striker's latest comments.
