In his final season, Derek Jeter has been honored by baseball fans and teams across America with gifts, from Yankee paddleboard to a Gibson guitar, and too many standing ovations to count.
And now the date is set for the Yankee captain to be honored in the Bronx.
The team announced Friday that the festivities will be set for Sunday, Sept. 7.
The game, against the Kansas City Royals, will include a pregame ceremony for No. 2, and all fans will receive a limited-edition commemorative coin celebrating Jeter.
Last year the Yankees dedicated a day to Mariano Rivera in which they brought former teammates from the championship teams, a special appearance from Metallica and closed it by officially retiring Rivera's number.
While Sept. 7 will be 'Jeter Day,' the Captain's final game at Yankee Stadium is scheduled for Sept. 25 against the Orioles.
The cheapest ticket for that game is going for $219.50 on StubHub.
