Chris Walla Left Death Cab For Cutie, And Our Heart Is An Empty Room
'I think I long for the unknown. It might be that simple,' Death Cab For Cutie 's Chris Walla wrote Wednesday (August 13), explaining why he has decided to leave the Seattle band and strike out on his own.
Walla posted his reasons for departing the band on The Stranger today, explaining that he will play his last show with Death Cab on September 13, 2014, at the Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, BC. He will also be lending his talents to the band's eighth studio album, due out in 2015.
'Deciding to leave the band was not, and is not, easy,' he added. 'It's really, really sad. I love my bandmates, and I'm proud of what we've done, and mercifully, those things don't change with my departure. Moving forward, my plans are simply to continue making music, producing records, and erring on the side of benevolence and beauty whenever possible. Darkness may find me, but I shall never choose it.'
Walla already has a solid foundation in the music world outside of Death Cab, having released tunes solo and produced for the likes of Tegan and Sarah, The Thermals, Nada Surf, The Decemberists, The Postal Service and Mates Of State.
