Former NBA No. 1 draft pick Greg Oden is scheduled for an Oct. 22 jury trial on charges that he punched his ex-girlfriend in the face during a fight.

The free agent center appeared in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis for a brief hearing this morning on charges of felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury, misdemeanor domestic battery and misdemeanor battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

Oden must continue wearing a GPS monitoring device for at least a few more weeks to track his whereabouts, a judge ruled, but may keep plans to move out-of-state. Oden also has a no-contact order forbidding him from any communication with his ex-girlfriend and another woman present the night of the alleged battery at Oden's mother's home in Lawrence, Ind.

The 26-year-old was arrested at his mother's home last Thursday and released later that day from jail. An affidavit says a witness told police Oden punched the woman in the face, drawing blood.

The Portland Trail Blazers made Oden the top pick in the 2007 draft. He played for the Miami Heat last season.

Oden wore a dark business suit to this morning's hearing and said little except to provide basic information requested by the judge.
