'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Splinter The Weekend Box Office Competition
The heroes in a half shell saw fit to cowabunga beyond their lackluster reviews this weekend - 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' had a stellar opening showing, estimated to gross over $65 million domestically by the end of the weekend. Looks like Megan Fox was right all along.
Proving that, apparently, sentient trees and gun-wielding raccoons are no match for anthropomorphic reptiles, Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' placed second in sales, though the original franchise is holding incredibly strong - estimated to reel in $41-$43 million in its second weekend, which brings its two-week total to around $177 million. Pelvic sorcery, indeed.
We're sorta torn, here: on one hand, there's Rocket and Groot. On the other, there's a great excuse to unearth and rock our vintage turtle merch. We're gonna think on it over a slice.
