Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass Knocks Jessie J Off The Top Of The ...

Meghan Trainor's All About That Bass has stormed to the top of the UK single's chart to claim the second fastest-selling single of the year. The track, which ironically actually has very little bass in it at all, jumped whopping 32 places from last week after becoming the first track ever to debut in the Top 40 based on streams alone. Her number one has sold nearly 144,000 copies in its first seven days of release; a feat only beaten this year by Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's monster hit Rather Be.
After knocking off Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande's Bang Bang from the coveted top spot, the US songstress told the Official Charts Company: 'It feels unreal! I still don't believe it! Especially on my first single. It's incredible!'
Jessie and her all-female troupe fall to two with their girl power anthem ater just one week on top while Taylor Swift stays strong at number three with Shake It Off, which just misses out on the top spot again after a seven-week run in the top five. Sigma and Paloma Faith are at number four with Changing while Calvin Harris and John Newman complete the top five with Blame.
Labrinth makes a disappointing return with Let It Be; failing to crack this week's Top 10 at number 11, while Ella Eyre's Comeback and Gorgon City's Unmissable trail behind at number 12 and 19 respectively. British diva Jessie Ware lands the highest charting single of her career with Say You Love Me which enters at number 22 this week ahead of the release of her new album Tough Love next week.
Looking at this morning's iTunes chart Meghan Trainor looks set to cling on to this weekend's number one spot with Nicki Minaj's Anaconda and Ella Henderson's Glow leading this week's new entries. But anything can happen over the next seven days so remember to find out how your favourites fare when the Official Singles charts are announced this Sunday.
