Rams coach Jeff Fisher proclaims Austin Davis as his starting QB
At the beginning of the preseason, Rams quarterback Austin Davis was third on the depth chart behind Sam Bradford and Shaun Hill.
But Bradford tore his ACL in the preseason and Hill suffered a thigh injury in Week 1, and suddenly, the third-year player was thrust into the St. Louis starting role. And he's performed well enough to get Jeff Fisher to say this.

So, you can take away the title of interim starter for Davis and make him the full-time starter moving forward. Which is not what Fisher said last month when he claimed that when Hill returned from the injury, he'd be the starter.
But it's hard to argue with Davis' production. He's completed 72.3 percent of his passes for 754 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions while winning a close contest vs. the Buccaneers and then narrowly falling to the Cowboys.
And maybe he's been even better than his stats show.
According to the Pro Football Focus quarterback rating, Davis has been the sixth-best quarterback in the league this season ahead of the likes of Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Matt Ryan. But Football Outsider's DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average ) ranking says Davis actually has played slightly below average.
Davis, though, has managed to impress NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell.
'If you took the name off his back and you just watched the two games on tape, and you wanted to talk about decision making, understanding the offense, where to go with the ball you would say that Austin Davis was really good,' Cosell said recently on Ross Tucker's podcast, via Turf Show Times. 'But he's not a great thrower by any means, he's not a bad thrower, and we don't know what he will be. Obviously in this league there's been lower picks that could play.
As for tight end Jared Cook's reaction to the news?
