OAKLAND -- The Warriors could soon part ways with Nemanja Nedovic, according to a source close to the situation who said the team is working with its 2013 first-round pick to facilitate a change of scenery.
The Warriors could recover some of the $1.1 million salary owed to Nedovic this season if they buy out his contract and he lands with one of the European teams reportedly interested in him.
Nedovic, who would need to clear waivers for such an arrangement to be worked out, has not appeared in a single regular season game for the Warriors this season and two weeks ago learned the team would decline his $1.15 million option for next season.
The Warriors acquired Nedovic, the 30th overall pick, in a draft night deal with hopes he could develop as a point guard. But Nedovic suffered through an injury-plagued rookie season, playing only 24 games and making numerous trips to the team's NBA Development League affiliate in Santa Cruz.
The 23-year-old did not make the 13-man active roster for four of the Warriors' six games this season after averaging 9.2 points, 2.6 assists and 15.9 minutes in the preseason.
'I just care about minutes and playing time,' Nedovic said last week. 'It's confusing a little bit (not playing), but it is what it is.'
Nedovic's agent could not immediately be reach for comment.
