Baylor lands in Cotton Bowl against Michigan State

Baylor's consolation prize for just missing the College Football Playoff semifinals is a major bowl game in its backyard. The Bears were assigned to the Cotton Bowl, where they will be matched against Michigan State on New Year's Day.

TCU (11-1), which dropped from No. 3 to No. 6 in the selection committee's final rankings, will face Ole Miss (10-2) in the Peach Bowl.

Georgia Tech (10-3) was pretty much locked into the Orange Bowl regardless of the result in Saturday's ACC championship game, and the Yellow Jackets will face Mississippi State (10-2).

Meanwhile, Boise State (11-2) finished No. 20 in the selection committee's final poll, earning the bowl bid for the highest-ranked champion among the so-called Group of Five conferences. The Broncos go to the Fiesta Bowl, where they'll play Pac 12 runner-up Arizona (10-3).

Combined with the semifinals, the SEC earned three of the 12 slots in the so-called 'New Year's Six' bowl games while the ACC, Big Ten, Pac 12 and Big 12 each earned two.
