Oil sinks below $57 as stocks dive into red


U.S. stocks rose at Monday's opening bell, the Dow gaining more than 100 points.


As of a few minutes after the 9:30 a.m. ET opening bell, the Dow Jones industrial average is up 0.7%, the S&P 500 is 0.9% higher and the Nasdaq composite is up 0.9%.


In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.6% and Kong's Hang Seng index fell 1%.


European markets are mixed so far.


In the commodities space, oil prices in the U.S. advanced 0.6%. The price of oil has been on a downward trajectory for months as supply has outstripped demand.
