Golden Globe TV Shockers: Jane the Virgin In! But Where Are Mindy, Amy and ...

Tyler Golden/NBC, Tyler Golden/The CW, Amazon Studios, NBC

Well, well, well. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association delivered the 2015 Golden Globe nominations this morning and there were quite a few pleasant surprises. They actually watched new shows! And on networks like The CW and streaming platforms like Amazon. Change is in the air!

But of course there were snubs. Always snubs. And surprising snubs. Where are last year's winners who still did great work? While we're happy to see some new blood, there were a few surprising omissions.

And let's get on with it...

SURPRISE: Ruth WilsonAnd what a pleasant surprise! The Affair is seriously sensational TV and Ruth Wilson is mesmerizing.

SNUB: Kerry Washington got its groove back this year and Kerry Washington has never been better, but it's a tough category...

SURPRISE: Gina RodriguezThe Hollywood Foreign Press Association watches new shows! And CW shows!

SNUB: Lisa KudrowThis season of The Comeback is perhaps the best work of Lisa Kudrow's career and that's saying something because she's generally great in everything she does. The Comeback should be up there in the comedy category too.

SNUB: Amy PoehlerAmy Poehler is last year's winner and basically the person you want to be best friends with...we're a little less upset since she FINALLY won it last year, but Leslie Knope is a TV icon. And let's not forget she's hosting the darn show! At least this snub should make for great jokes for Poehler and .

SURPRISE: Jeffrey TamborIf you haven't seen Transparent then finish reading this article and then head on over to Amazon Prime and watch this series. Then you'll know why this is a great surprise, Jeffrey Tambor is turning in the performance of his career.

SURPRISE: Allison TolmanThe best thing to come out of FX's Fargo-besides Billy Bob Thornton's bangs-and here she is with a Golden Globe nomination!

HBO's dark comedy starring Laurie Metcalf, and Alex Borstein is like nothing we've ever seen on TV before and we mean that in the best way possible. Biting comedy, wonderful commentary and just all around strong performances and writing. Why more people aren't watching and loving this show is such a mystery.

SURPRISE SNUB: Modern FamilyNo love for the ABC comedy everybody loves to complain about for getting so much awards love.

The HBO comedy is one of the best on TV and we're happy the HFPA is giving love to some newbies like Transparent and Jane the Virgin, but um, where is Veep?

SNUB: Parks and RecreationWe know awards don't mean the show isn't the best, but we'd still love to see Parks and Recreation get at least one trophy before it leaves airwaves.

SURPRISE: Jane the VirginCW's delightful comedy has been noticed! It was the only broadcast comedy to make it through.

SNUB: Brooklyn Nine-NineIt's not unusual for the Golden Globes to honor a show and move on from them, but Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Andy Samberg are still turning in good work.

SURPRISE: TransparentAmazon's wonderful comedy about a transgender woman and her family coming to terms with her identity is one of TV's realest shows. It's just not on TV.

SNUB: Peter DinklageGame of Thrones continues to be awesome, but at its heart is Peter Dinklage's always great performance. Where Tyrion at?!

SURPRISE: The AffairOne of the best dramas on TV right now. A very nice surprise.

CLICK: Go inside Mindy's closet

SURPRISE: The Good WifeThe only broadcast series to make the cut. And for good reason! CBS's The Good Wife is outstanding TV.

SURPRISE: Francis O'ConnorStarz is a favorite of the Golden Globes-never forget Jacqueline Bisset's wacko speech from last year.

SURPRISE: Alan CummingWe love him as Eli Gold, but he hasn't been chewing as much scenery as usual this year. Guess the Golden Globes really like Alicia's election storyline.

SNUB: ParenthoodWe're here crying all the time because of Parenthood and because it's almost always ignored by awards voters.

SNUB: HomelandHomeland season four's title could be How Homeland Got Its Groove back because this year the Showtime series has been firing on all cylinders. All of them!

The 2015 Golden Globes air Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. on NBC.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
