Which new movies are worth your money?

Looking for a good movie this weekend? Here are the latest releases, trailers and reviews from USA TODAY.

'Top Five'

In Chris Rock's semi-autobiographical Top Five, comedian/actor Andre Allen (Rock) is inspired to reflect upon his career, via an encounter with a determined reporter (Rosario Dawson). The result is raunchy, energetic, sharp-eyed and a bit rambling. Rock's ambitious passion project - he wrote, directed and stars in it - is a bawdy, uninhibited yet thoughtful social satire about fame vs. artistic fulfillment. (*** out of four stars)

'Exodus: Gods and Kings'

Swarms of flies, oozing pustules, alligator attacks and gaggles of frogs are vividly rendered in three dimensions in Exodus: Gods and Kings. And yet this biblical epic is still bland, overly long and otherwise forgettable. Those seeking memorable performances and a fresh approach to the ancient story of Moses (Christian Bale) leading the enslaved Israelites to freedom will want to look elsewhere. (** out of four stars)

'Inherent Vice'

Well-acted, intermittently compelling, often incoherent and confounding but always offbeat, Inherent Vice is a twisting story about twisted California stoners. Think of it as a film that's meant to be experienced, more than fully understood. Those looking for a straightforward narrative likely will be exasperated by this rambunctious, meandering story, based on the digressive and dense Thomas Pynchon novel. (** ½ out of four)
