Bears' DJ Williams lost for the season
The Bears fear middle linebacker D.J. Williams tore one of his pectoral muscles during the third quarter of Thursday's 27-21 win over the Giants. If he did, he likely would miss the rest of the season.
'There's certainly a chance,' coach Marc Trestman said when asked if Williams might be out for the year. 'We don't have all the information. When they say 'pec,' it can be very severe. It can be a season-ending injury, but we don't know that right now. I think we're in the process of continuing to to gather infomration, and we're not playing until (Oct. 20). Certainly with will come out in the next 24-48 hours.'
Second-round rookie Jon Bostic would replace Williams with the first string. He played 21 of the Bears' 54 defensive snaps Thursday, most of which were after Williams was hurt.
'I made a lot of mistakes out there,' Bostic said. 'I've got to get settled back in and just play by our rules.'
Williams was somber in the locker room after the victory. He politely declined an interview request, saying he needed to learn more about his injury before he spoke publicly.
