Jets TE Winslow gets four
Kellen Winslow flexes for the cameras after scoring a touchdown vs. Tampa Bay in Week 1.
Kellen Winslow has been suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. Winslow's suspension will keep him out until Monday, November 4 after the Jets' Week 9 game against the Saints.
Winslow's suspension explains the curious situation that had begun unfolding around him this week. The veteran tight end was excused from practice Friday without much of an explanation from Rex Ryan. He had been listed as doubtful for this week's game against the Steelers, though he will now be suspended for that game.

Following the Jets 30-28 thrilling win over the Falcons on Monday night, Winslow was in a poor mood, only briefly speaking with the News. The tight end played in just 19 of the team's 46 snaps, and was questionable with a knee injury entering the game. He caught a touchdown in the win. This week, Winslow declined all media requests, which is very unusual for him.
He did not practice at all this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the reason listed was his knee. On Friday, Rex Ryan said Winslow was excused from practice, is listed as doubtful, and that his knee has not taken a turn for the worse. At the time, Ryan wouldn't elaborate on why Winslow missed practice beyond it being a non-injury.

'I excused him, I'll just say that,' Ryan said.
The Jets head coach was asked point blank if he expects Winslow to remain a member of the team. 'Yes,' Ryan said.

The suspension will cost Winslow $197,647, according to overthecap.com.
'Guys we got to look at it this way, we have a really good tight end in Jeff Cumberland,' Ryan said, shifting the subject. 'The guy's a young stud tight end.'
Zach Sudfeld will play now that Winslow is out Sunday, according to Ryan.
