NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Saturday night that Gronkowski has not gained clearance and is not likely to play Week 6, according to a source informed of the situation.
Gronk consulted with Dr. James Andrews over the last five months on the status of his forearm. Andrews encouraged Gronkowski to sit this week, according to Breer. ProFootballTalk first reported the news.
This is the next phase of the Gronk saga. Two weeks ago, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Gronkowski's father had been vocal about keeping the tight end off the field until he's fully healthy. Andrews not giving clearance indicates the forearm just isn't ready.
Earlier in the week Breer, said the Patriots would put Gronk's status in Andrews' hands. It looks like, as Bill Belichick would say, Gronkowski will be inactive.
