Man convicted for death threat to IRS agent, wife

PROVIDENCE - A Cranston man has been convicted of threatening to kill an Internal Revenue Service agent and his wife over a tax bill.
Andrew A. Calcione was found guilty by US District Chief Judge William E. Smith on Friday of threatening to assault and murder an IRS revenue agent and threatening to assault and murder the agent's family.

Prosecutors said Calcione left a voice-mail message in the Warwick IRS office last July 15 threatening that if the agent called him again he would torture the agent, rape and kill his wife and injure his daughter while the agent watched, and kill the agent.
Tax agents estimated that Calcione owed a total of $330,000 for 2008, 2009, and 2010.
The 49-year-old Calcione is to be sentenced on Sept. 11 and faces up to 20 years in federal prison. (AP)
