'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' Sequel in the Works
Gold Circle and HBO films have begun developing a sequel to the box office hit 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' with stars Nia Vardalos and John Corbett set to return.
Vardalos will write and direct with Playtone's Rita Wilson, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman producing. Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steven Shareshian and Vardalos are exec producing.
The story follows the lovably loud Portokalos family who return after a family secret is revealed and a bigger, fatter wedding brings the big fat Greek family back together again.
'Now that I'm experiencing motherhood, I'm ready to write the next chapter of my family story,' said Vardalos. 'Of course a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.'
Vardalos is currently in development on 'Leftovers' for Paramount and is also on a book tour for her New York Times bestseller 'Instant Mom.'
Gold Circle and Playtone are repped by CAA. Vardalos is represented by attorneys Jon Moonves and Tom Greenberg. Corbett is represented by Gersh and Steve Lovett.
