Mahan rallies to win The Barclays
Paramus, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Hunter Mahan recorded five birdies during his back nine on Sunday as he came from behind to win The Barclays by two strokes.
Mahan carded a 6-under 65 in the final round at Ridgewood Country Club to end at 14-under-par 270. He collected his sixth career victory on the PGA Tour and first since the 2012 Houston Open.
Jason Day, who held a share of the third-round lead with Jim Furyk, shot a 3- under 68 to end in a tie for second place with Stuart Appleby (65) and Cameron Tringale (66) at 12-under 272.
Ernie Els (66), William McGirt (66) and Matt Kuchar shared fifth at 11-under, while Furyk managed a 1-under 70 to end alone in eighth at 10-under 274.
Rickie Fowler (67), Patrick Reed (65), Kevin Na (69) and Morgan Hoffmann (69) tied for ninth at minus-9.
