Samsung Galaxy Alpha goes up for pre
That's courtesy of smartphone retailer Mobilefun, which has started taking orders for the so-called Galaxy Alpha, pricing the metal-clad handset at £549. At the time of writing, the webpage is still live.
There's no mention of a release date, but Mobilefun's dedicated Galaxy Alpha webpage reveals almost all there is to know about the incoming smartphone.
The handset, also leaked as the Galaxy S5 Prime and Galaxy F, will - if the details are correct - arrive with Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 5 processor and Google's Android 4.4.2 Kitkat mobile operating system.
Despite talk that the smartphone would look to rival the LG G3 screen, the webpage claims that the Galaxy Alpha will have a not so impressive 4.7in 1280x720 resolution Super AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 320ppi. This will come paired with the same fingerprint scanner found on the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Beyond that, the leak also reveals that the Galaxy Alpha will have a 12MP rear-facing camera with 'super-fast autofocus' and LED flash, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, 4G LTE support, Bluetooth 4.0 and 32GB of internal storage. The handset reportedly will not feature a microSD card slot.
The leak also appears to confirm the Samsung Galaxy Alpha's 'metallic design', although Mobilefun has yet to show an image of the device.
The last we heard, the Galaxy Alpha was tipped to launch on 13 September, but now reports claim that the smartphone could arrive as early as next week. µ
