USA Basketball cuts three players to reduce World Cup pool to 16

USA Basketball cut Washington Wizards guards John Wall and Bradley Beal and Atlanta Hawks forward Paul Millsap on Monday, reducing its roster in advance of this month's World Cup of Basketball in Spain, sources told Yahoo Sports.

The U.S. lost guard Paul George after he broke his leg during Friday's scrimmage. USA Basketball must submit its official 12-player roster the day before the tournament starts on Aug. 30.

Millsap had been a late addition to the pool of players after forwards Kevin Love and Blake Griffin withdrew shortly before the start of training camp.

Still remaining in the U.S. pool of players are guards Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard; forwards Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Chandler Parsons, Gordon Hayward, Kenneth Faried; and centers DeMarcus Cousins and Andre Drummond.
