Aaron Dobson Placed on Injured Reserve
The Patriots are ending the sophomore receiver's season.
According to the Boston Herald's Jeff Howe, Patriots sophomore receiver Aaron Dobson is going to be placed on the season ending injured reserve list. Dobson pulled his hamstring against the Packers after four snaps and it was unlikely that he would find his rhythm before the end of the season.
Dobson will be finishing one of the most disappointing seasons by a Patriot in recent memory, rivaling possibly just Chad Ochocinco over the past few years. Dobson fractured his foot at the end of his rookie season, had surgery in March, and then his recovery took an extended time into training camp and the preseason. Dobson was a healthy scratch for eight games this season, with a negative outlook on his future.
Since the Patriots selection of Deion Branch in 2002, the Patriots have drafted four receivers in the second or third round ( Bethel Johnson, Chad Jackson, Brandon Tate, and Taylor Price). Only one of those players (Bethel Johnson) was on the team for more than two seasons, and all four have been cut prior to the end of their rookie contract.
Dobson will finish the year with three receptions on five targets for 38 yards and no touchdowns.
The movement of Dobson to the IR opens up a roster spot for the team to activate defensive tackle Sealver Siliga from the Injured Reserve (Designation to Return) list.
