Box Office: Hunger Games Holds Onto Top Spot
Moviegoers feasted on leftovers at home and at the box office this weekend, helping the latest Hunger Games film hold onto the top spot in its third week out.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 grossed an estimated $56.9 million, down 53 percent from its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
Coming in second place, Penguins of Madagascar premiered to $25.8 million - a big dip from the more than $60 million each of the franchise's last two films opened to. Another family film, , followed at No. 3 with a haul of $18.8 million.
The best animal shows on TV
Interstellar landed in fourth place, taking in $15.8 million. Horrible Bosses 2 debuted at No. 5 with a disappointing draw of $15.7 million, down from the first film's $28.3 million opening.
In sixth place, Dumb and Dumber To earned $8.2 million. The Theory of Everything rose to No. 7 with more than $5 million.
Rounding out the top 10: (No. 8, $2.4 million), (No. 9, $1.8 million) and (No. 10, $1.7 million).
