CBS, Dish TV face Thursday deadline
Unless CBS comes to an 11th-hour agreement with Dish satellite network, local subscribers won't be able to watch CBS entertainment and sports programming, possibly Showtime and CBS Sports Network as well.
In the Pittsburgh area, this would mean a blackout of KDKA and The CW. Fourteen CBS stations, locally owned and operated, including those in Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia and Dallas, might be affected if Thursday's 7 p.m. deadline is not met.
Negotiations between the companies have been tense. CBS has granted extensions twice to Dish subscribers and a website, www.keepcbs.com, has been established to encourage subscribers to express their displeasure. Calling a phone number on the site (1-855-553-3787) prompts a message that includes 'tell Dish enough is enough.'
For its part, Dish released a statement last week noting, 'Only CBS can force a blackout of its channels.'
