'Hunger Games' Dominates Foreign Box Office, 'Interstellar' Soars Past $500 ...

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1″ topped the foreign box office for the second week in a row, pulling in $67 million from more than 85 territories.

The film has earned $254.4 million in two weeks, and $480 million globally. Top territories last weekend included the United Kingdom with a $8.2 million haul, Germany with $7 million, Australia with $5 million and Mexico with $4.4 million. One major market left to open is China, where 'Mockingjay - Part 1″ won't debut until 2015.

Second place winner ' Interstellar ' soared past the $500 million mark last weekend, picking up $44.4 million at the foreign box office. Its worldwide total clocks in at $542.3 million. Christopher Nolan's science-fiction adventure took the top spot in China for a third week in a row, earning $18.1 million and bringing its total in the People's Republic to $106 million.

The film doesn't boast 3D, usually a must-have for U.S. blockbusters looking to bring in an overseas crowd, but it has nonetheless been a potent force at the box office. Imax screens have helped make up the difference, contributing $49 million to 'Interstellar's' $395.2 million foreign total.

' Penguins of Madagascar ' disappointed in its stateside debut, but has generated respectable returns abroad. It has been open in China for nearly a month, but broadened its footprint to more than 40 territories last weekend, earning $36 million in the process. The 'Madagascar' spinoff has made just shy of $100 million globally.

The top five was rounded out by 'Horrible Bosses 2,' which picked up $11.7 million from 42 territories, and Chinese romantic comedy 'Women Who Flirt,' which scored $11.5 million, in their first week in theaters.
