Jason Aldean, pictured performing at the 8th annual Susan G. Komen Concert for the Cure at New Orleans Arena Friday, was on board his tour bus when it struck and killed a man walking on the highway, police said.

Country singer Jason Aldean is reeling after his tour bus struck and killed a homeless man who was walking on a busy Indiana highway - while the three-time Grammy winner was on board.

Police said the 'Don't You Want to Stay' singer, another passenger and the driver were traveling on the bus when it slammed into 49-year-old Albert Kennedy at approximately 1:30 a.m. near the town of Vincennes, Indiana's RTV6 News reported.

Knox County Sheriff Micheal Morris told ABC News that the transient man had often been seen walking on the stretch of US 41 and had stepped in front of the moving vehicle.

'With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana,' Aldean tweeted Monday. 'In all the years I've been touring and all the miles we've driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen.

'I'm praying for Albert Kennedy's family and friends today and ask that you do the same,' said the three-time Grammy winner.

Kennedy died of 'trauma to the head and chest,' according to the coroner's report.

Charges were not expected to be filed against the tour bus driver.

Aldean had just wrapped up his 2013 U.S. tour with a performance in New Orleans Friday night - after stormy weather forced him to cancel his planned tour finale in Dallas the next evening.
